Picture of Drakes Bay from north side of Point Reyes headlands, looking roughly Northeast.  The entrance to Drakes Estero is a gap in the headlands near the right edge of the photo.

    This is a picture of so call Drakes Bay but not where he anchored in 1579.
    In fact it is not where the Guild has identified as the anchorage site. They identify Drake’s cove, a small alluvial sand deposit inside so called Drakes Estero, no where 3/4 mile across as identified in the World Encompassed journal of the voyage.

      Garry, I posted most of your comments, though I edited one lightly (about historiography). I am not posting the two separate comments about the map and picture of Drakes Bay. I have updated the language on those two blogs to clarify that I am not present Drakes Bay as a landing site and pointing out the nearby location of Drakes Estero. Kevin
